Stupid Beliefs- Psychic Surgery

Manipulative Lies That Desperate People Believe

Psychic Surgery

Oh these guys are scum

Introduction

This is a bit different from my usual stuff because, while the people that use psychic surgeons believe, the surgeons themselves do not. There's a stereotype that most alternative health practitioners are cynical conmen who use bullshit placebos dressed up in ancient mysticism to rob idiots. That's probably unfair- they may be modern day snake-oil salesmen but they often believe what they say. Not so with psychic surgeons.

What is this stuff anyway?

Psychic surgery is roughly equivalent to faith healing- magic tricks passed off as mystical intervention in serious illnesses. Psychic surgeons claim to be able to non-invasively draw out any tumors, cysts, etc., that may be killing someone without causing any permanent damage. According to testimony, here's how it's supposed to work: the surgeon pushes their hand into someone's body (usually drawing blood), they withdraw their hand holding the malignant tissue, and then wipe away the blood, leaving the skin clean and scar-free.

Naturally this is of course completely fake. A number of magicians and other sleight-of-hand experts have viewed psychic surgeries either personally or via recordings, and have agreed that it is a fraud. Some of them have even performed it live or on TV, pulling tumor after tumor out of perfectly healthy individuals. If the idea of magicians debunking something sounds odd, then remember- magicians, like professional wrestlers before them, no longer claim that what they do is real or that they possess actual special powers. The general consensus is that the low-life scumbag who dares to call himself a healer first prepares some fake tumors (usually animal giblets) and some kind of vessel filled with blood (a sponge or something), and hides them in his hand, then he folds the skin of the patients' stomach and pushes his hand into the fold, creating the illusion that he is reaching in to someone's body, then he squeezes out some blood and pulls out the animal guts.

I don't know how many people a year use psychic surgeons, because they're totally unregulated and often underground. There are those who operate openly, mostly in South America, but also worldwide, including in the UK and US, claiming to not only cure cancer, but also lifelong illnesses and physical disabilities. The practitioners in the US and Europe dress it up in a bit more New Age bullshit, claiming to "manipulate energy" like our vampire friends rather than rip the tumors out by hand, but it's basically the same thing.

I short, they are a bunch of that prey on the desperate and offer them false hope in exchange for the last few pennies of the dying. I lost two grandparents to cancer, if someone had come to me and said they could fix it with a word, I may very well have done it. In a world that contains; child molesters, African shamans who mutilate people for luck, neo-Nazis, serial killers and the Westboro Baptist Church it would be sheer hyperbole to call psychic surgeons the worst examples of humanity out there, but you've got to have a special corner of hate in you hearts for someone who knowingly deceives the terminally ill and claims to cure them with magic tricks.

I have nothing more to say, this isn't very entertaining, it's not my best work, but I needed to say it anyway. I lost two

Conclusion

I hate these bastards, plain and simple. I think I honestly prefer the vampires, at least they admit they're bloodsuckers. It's one thing to believe pseudoscientific nonsense, it's another to use it to make money off dying people without believing in it yourself.
